2009 WBFN State Tournament
Mississippi River Pools 7.8, and 9
July 17-19, 2009
The 2009 WBFN State tournament was a great
success. We had 174 of our finest members compete on the great
Mississippi river in La Crosse. Pools 7,8 and 9 were the home to some
great fishing.
The first day mother nature greeted us with some wind and light rain.
All faired well and the competitors proved they deserved to be there. We
had a tight top 20 with everyone gunning for the top eleven spots. First
day leader Larry Kerber brought in an 18 plus lbs bag with Jim Johnson
right behind him. The local River Road club showed there knowledge with
6 anglers in the top 11 spots.
After weigh-in we had our State Banquet at our host Hotel the Days
hotel. We had a great turnout of 180 guests along with our key note
speaker Mr. Jon Stewart of BASS. Brovarney Baits was our official
sponsor of our Banquet. With lots of prizes to be won our 2009 state
team sold raffle tickets. After dinner we awarded our 2009 state team
and our two youth qualifiers who will be fishing in Escanaba this
summer. Mr. Stewart gave a state of fishing report and a little on what
Bass was doing. We then introduced our first member of the 2010 state
team who is Jason Stangle. Jason won the Mr. Bass tournament on Lake
Puckaway and with that he is the 12th man on the 2010 team.
Second day of the tourney started off with great weather and Jon
Stewart sang our national anthem. When it was all said and done a lot of
anglers brought fish to the scale. With another big bag local Jim
Johnson top the overall standings with 34.98lbs. Second was another
local Nathan Ranallo with a total of 33.42lbs. Rounding out your top
eleven;
