As I mentioned in my previous post this will be an open discusiion forum for youth ideas. Please give your input.
A few of my ideas or I should say ideas I have heard and would like to throw out for everyone to consider. First one, what does everyone think about having the youth provide food and drinks at state events like 6-Man, State Qualifier, Presidential Challenge, Big Bass, etc. This could be an opportunity for the kids to meet the adults and each other. The mony raised would go into the Youth Funds to help provide assistance to those going on to Nationals and our own State Tournament. Another idea I am really excited about is a youth party. This would be on the Friday evening before the WBFN Youth Championship. We could have a pizza party, go over tournament rules, decide partners for the tournament, and have a guest speaker. This would give the kids an opportunity to meet each other, have some fun, talk strategies for the tournament, and give the parents an opportunity to socialize a little bit.
I would also like to have our youth clubs think about hosting an open tournament. This would be hosted by any youth club other than the club hosting the Championship. This would give kids an opportunity to fish new waters in a tournament setting and start making friends. This tournament could be counted towards their qualifying stats for the championship.
All in all, I would like to see the youth program mirror the adults. The kids could be fishing their own club tournaments for the opportunity to make it on the "Team Wisconsin" fishing team. The "Team Wisconsin" kids will then compete against each other for the opportunity to go to BASS Master Classic and fish the National Youth Championship. Similar to those who fish for the opportunity to fish the Northern Divisionals.
This is a start, now please give me some more ideas or give input to the ones I have posted.
