Hey Guys -
Just an FYI....there are a few guys coming down to my place in Mt. Pleasant, TX the end of January to fish Lake Monticello. (Warm water lake, kept warm by power plant) This is the lake that guides take their clients to when Lake Fork is a little off.....
Monticello has a slot of 14-24", so once a fish reaches 14", it is safe until it is over 24". I fished it the other day with my son Tanner (age 4) for 3 hours. We caught about 50, including about 30 over 3 lbs and 5 over 4lbs including the biggest one of 6# 2oz.
There is a gal who rents fully furnished mobil homes for $50 per nite just a mile from the boat launch. homes come with grill, tv, fridge, microwave, everything else. Some sleep 4, some sleep 6, etc.
Dave Zugenbuehler has a group coming down, Billy is thinking about it, Mike Hines is coming down. Dave's group is arriving on Sat, Jan 27th and staying through Feb 4th. I'll be down here from Jan 28th (late) through Feb 4th.
I'll be happy to show all around Lake Monticello, Bob Sandlin, Lake Cypress Springs, Lake Welsh (another warm water lake) and anything else you need.
14 hours from Madison to the lake.....let me know if you are interested. I've got the lady's number that rents the mobile homes, but she says she'll start filling up fast once the word gets out that the fish are biting.
Bass on Monticello usually spawn in Jan and Feb...same with Welsh. Lake Fork spawn usually starts in March and April.
So think about it. 4 guys could bring down 2 boats, rent a place for the week for very cheap.
let me know
