We had a 5 day weekend on the Willow Flowage and it was a blast. We caught a lot of smallies on topwater and a mix of both LM and SM on spinnerbaits. There were those pesky northerns to keep the action going and then there was those two 30" dogfish that my wife caught. While the flowage is low it was not that difficult to fish if you took the time to learn where the river channel ran. We found no bass in the sections below Deer Island and the water was too low to get even close to the iron bridge. The wildlife, eagles, osprey, ducks, geese, and deer complete the package to make it one of our favorite bodies of water to fish. I went out with my friend Sunday morning and we slip-bobbered a stump field for walleye. We caught no keeper walleye but did manage some nice perch and crappie. It was just a very nice mellow enjoyable weekend.
